Drew Barrymore Surgery

American actress, film director, screenwriter, producer and model Drew Barrymore is rumored to have had surgery to improve her image.

Barrymore, 38, underwent a painful laser surgery to have her tattoos removed in 2013. The reason why she decided to have the procedure was to convert to her husband's Jewish faith (Drew is married to Will Kopelman). It is important for Drew to remove the six inkings (a butterfly, a bouquet of flowers, two angels, a crescent moon and a cross) because she wants to be buried in a traditional cemetery. In case you didn't know, if someone wants to be buried according to the Jewish religion, they have to erase any kind of artwork before their death.

A source revealed to America's Star magazine: "Drew also wants to be a Santa Barbara mom, and tattoos clash with that wardrobe. She's growing up and turning conservative."

Barrymore stated recently: "It hurts really bad. It's really painful. Getting them is not that bad, obviously, because I have so many".

"I can't explain the exact science to you, but when the laser hits the ink on your skin it kind of explodes and looks like little kernels of popcorn popping up," Barrymore continued.

"It's traumatic and it's incredibly painful. They can't numb it enough to make the pain go away," Drew added.

While Barrymore hasn't yet fully converted, she shared with Star magazine that she and husband Will Kopelman will be raising her four-month-old daughter, Olive, in the Jewish tradition.

"I haven't converted yet, (but) Olive will be raised traditionally. We had a very traditional wedding ceremony with Rabbi Rubenstein and I did the ketubah. We wore the yamakas and we did the chuppah…it's a beautiful faith and I'm so honored to be around it."

It has to be noted that Barrymore is no stranger to surgery as she openly underwent a breast reduction operation some time in 2006 or early 2007 in her teens (at 16) and noted: "I really love my body and the way it is right now. There's something very awkward about women and their breasts because men look at them so much. When they're huge, you become very self-conscious. Your back hurts. You find that whatever you wear, you look heavy in. It's uncomfortable. I've learned something, though, about breasts through my years of pondering and pontificating, and that is: Men love them, and I love that."

Drew's dramatic change in her breasts was evident between the 2006 and 2007 Oscar appearances. Barrymore's boobs are noticeably more perky than before and have lost their sagging. For that reason, it is speculated that Drew underwent a breast lift in combination with her breast reduction.

Before getting a breast lift, Drew appeared at the Golden Globes without wearing a bra. Her dress revealed her large breasts that sagged and reached down to lower-arm level. Plastic surgeon Anthony Griffin went as far as saying: "What the hell was she thinking, going braless? When she came out, my wife said: "She really needs a lift. I can't believe a stylist let her go out like that." We look for them to be mid-arm level. Hers were down to her elbows."

Pictures of premieres appear to show that Drew has been using botox, which give her forehead a tell tale sheen.

Miami plastic surgeon Dr Michael Salzhauer was quoted as saying: "Drew Barrymore always has a glow about her. Recently her glow has turned into more of a shine possibly from the light reflecting off her perfectly smooth forehead, most likely achieved with Botox injections."

Drew is also suspected to be using fillers like Juvederm and Restylane to maintain her famously plump cheeks and even enhance her lips.

Dr. Paul S. Nassif, a Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and Rhinoplasty Specialist in Beverly Hills, California, claimed: "There is a possibility Drew Barrymore had fillers and Botox. It is also possible she had lip augmentation. If any work was performed, it was conservative and she still looks good."

Barrymore is estimated to have had a nose job, but this could just be a result of growing up.

Dr. Paul S. Nassif, a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon and a rhinoplasty specialist in Beverly Hills, California noted: "Drew Barrymore's nose does not appear to have undergone any drastic changes over the years. Her nose seems naturally perky, and that is not the result of any surgery."

Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr David Shafer claimed: "Drew Barrymore's nose does look a bit more refined from younger photos. However, the nose does change with age, so it is hard to tell if there has been surgical intervention."

Plastic surgeon Dr Richard Ellenbogen says: "Drew Barrymore is nasally blessed. It doesn't look like it's been tweaked. It just looks like she got older. And may I say, as she got older, she got more elegant and more beautiful and more talented."

When Barrymore was asked if she would ever get surgery in the future, she responded: "I just know it's a slippery slope, and everybody's starting to look a little waxy lately. I'm going to do everything I can not to go down that road."

She even revealed she would rather look like a "basset hound" than get surgery.

Barrymore admitted that lighting and creative photography are crucial to maintaining a celebrity's image.

Barrymore explained to an interviewer: "There is some lighting where I absolutely resemble Shamu. People have to know that you pick the best pictures where the lighting is beautiful and the angles are right and the body positions are gorgeous. And then, guess what, you turn, sit, hit the wrong light, and your belly flaps over and we all look human again."

As for aging, Drew shared: "I'm so curious as to what's going to happen naturally that I can't imagine wanting to alter things just yet."
